I got a call from Alain Boppart from UArt while I was traveling in Oregon. He asked if I was sitting down. So I did. That still didn’t prepare me for the news that my painting “Abundance” had won first place in UArt’s 2015 Online Pastel Competition!
I am so pleased to be in this show with many artists whose work I have admired for years! And I am so SO honored to receive this recognition. Thank you UArt and juror Liz Haywood Sullivan!
I am also excited that in addition to a cash award, the prize includes some fabulous perks, like UArt paper in my favorite grade (400), a new Richeson easel (much needed), Terry Ludwig pastels, the new Richard McKinley book, etc. Can’t wait to get back into the studio and do some more painting!
You can see all the winning paintings here online.
Paint on!
Congrats Diane! It is a beautiful picture! And the competition was very strong!

Thanks so much Edie. Yes, there were a lot of accomplished artists, and beautiful pieces in the show. Here is a link to the entire show, all the artwork that was juried into the show from the larger number that was submitted.
